This oil painting was inspired by the fresh, vibrant colors of summer found in a simple glass jar of zinnias and a vintage green jadeite mixing bowl. For me, there is a sentimental tie to the past and present in this painting. A feeling of nostalgic beauty, combined with the ability to capture a new perspective that offers a contemporary twist for the viewer, is an important part of my aesthetic. The painting has its roots in modern art while drawing on expressionisms emotional style and fauvisms unblended colors and simple forms.
Catherine J Martzloff's Perspective
Living with this artwork is like
Waking up each morning feeling delight and anticipation.
Believe it or not
I love vintage jadeite bake ware and have a small collection.
A random fact I love is
That red is the first color a baby sees. I love red!
Don't hate this artwork if it
Creates a feeling - even dislike.
This artwork comments on
Time, change and tradition.
