I don’t often title my collages. I’m learning that in order for me to properly be able to name something, I need to spend a considerable amount of time on it. Otherwise, it feels less true. My paintings are different. They take a lot longer to complete (whatever ‘complete’ means to me that day). I spend hours agonizing over specific shades of blue, how the gaze of the subject comes across to the viewer, and whether or not it feels like them. Can I feel the person/place when I look at the painting? Would they recognize themselves while looking at it? I haven’t ventured into portraits in collage format just yet. Until then.. “Untitled”, 8 x 10”, cardstock on matboard. 2024 🌱
