About this artwork
The idea of the picture is a clash between three typical poker players with different strategies - a joker, a coward and a beginner. We don't see real faces, but we can read the body language of each player and see inconsistencies in their masks. We can also notice what combination of cards each player is holding in their hands and can guess who should win. But this is a completely ambiguous situation. The composition of the painting is based on the principle of Andrei Rublev’s painting Trinity.
