Katherine (b.1992) is an award-winning contemporary artist based in Toronto, Ontario who specializes in photo-realistic charcoal drawings. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting at Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2014 and received a Certificate of Advanced Visual Studies at OCADU’s Self-Directed Studio Program in Florence, Italy. Since becoming a full-time artist in 2020, she has exhibited her work in numerous galleries both in Canada and the US. Through the study of land, sea, and sky, Katherine’s drawings explore our emotional connection to the natural world. The use of light and shadow represents the constant ebb and flow of nature mirroring our human experience. From the velvety deep blacks to the shimmering highlights, the interplay of light and shadow represents the contrast of life itself, both positive and negative.
