Satu Laurel (b. 1983) is an Finnish artist whose paintings invites to explore fantastical sceneries and wild, colorful nature. Ideal and material worlds overlap in her art. After graduating (BA, London 2007 and MA, Finland 2011) she has exhibited her works in Finland and internationally. Her paintings are a part of the numerous private and public collections. In her latest works she engages with romantic landscape painting tradition and uses abstract paint strokes to create compositions of colors. The materiality of a paint and artists strong presence is visible in the strokes. In her art she explores the interplay between visible and invisible, presence and absence, ideals and material.
