About
‘Off White’ is an Italian luxury streetwear brand founded by American designer Virgil Abloh. This work mimics the commonsensical nature of Abloh’s work and points to the commercialism of everyday objects.
Danie Wood's Perspective
Artist's commentary
My work stresses both the physical reality of art making and its psychological value – a dialogue between place and being. I use my art as a metaphor to critique contemporary ideas of identity, gravity and change, my subject becomes a reflection of the human condition. Profoundly influenced by Anselm Kiefer, Antoni Tàpies, and Paul-Émile Borduas, some of my techniques reference the process of Les Automatistes. Control and the loss of it are mechanisms very much alive in my work.
