Those pieces are painted by acrylic on Kent paper, then cutted along the figures. I prepared to print the red colour's plaid paper and attached pieces as collage. In 2020 was pandemic era of covid-19, I was checking old photos on the internet often. I was very interested in Japanese old styles which attracted me. The colours, interior, fashion... also felt weird women who worked as prostitute after world war Ⅱ, they already worn American style clothes (nowadays this is normal for us but it was weird in that era!) that is stylish. I decided to draw them on my works. But not main... that's why I drew them as "piece"

Nanae Kawahara is a Japanese illustrator. Based in Yokohama. The illustration is created by graphical style with animals, nature and people. Mainly based in Yokohama & Tokyo and works for magazines, books, advertising and goods, also attends to art events and has exhibitions everywhere. My favourites: Dogs, Music, Films, Animation, Mystery dramas, Showa Retro, Visiting to cafes and Walking.
