About this artwork
Calling upon forces both internal and external, “Marriage of Horses and Rabbits” invokes the image of my parents depicted as their Chinese Zodiac animals as they navigate the difficult migration journey to Canada. Their story is told through the lens of a complicated familial/marital dynamic deeply impacted by the loss, the anxieties, and the hopes they carry and experience together throughout their lives.

About the artist
Jenny Tchen b.1999 is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tkaronto/Toronto. Recollecting on complicated intimacies between herself and objects grounded in narratives of displacement, she pulls on threads that entwine her within her interpersonal history. Rooted from her archaeological position in present-day "Canada" and amidst the energetically woven subjects in her work, she addresses potentials of both loss and tentative reconnection.
