Upper portion of the work: gesso, linen and acrylic on stretched canvas, Bottom portion: window treatment fabric samples, paintings on canvas cut with pinking shears, on raw canvas, squares extend onto sides and slightly overhang to see the pinking shear edge and shadow. This work is a part of my "Checherboard is is so in right now" series from 2023-2024.

About the artist
American B. 1982. Veronica Bruce Woodward is an interdisciplinary artist based in the north suburbs of Chicago. She received her BFA in Art Education in 2004 from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She taught high school art full time from 2004-2011. In 2011, she received her MFA in Painting from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has been awarded artist residences at Threewalls, Chicago, Bundanon Trust, New South Wales in Australia, and Nida Art Colony in Nida, Lithuania. Woodward has exhibited her work in Chicago, San Diego, Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia and the UK. From 2011-2019, Veronica spent years teaching at some of the top institutions in Illinois such as the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools as well as taking years off to focus on her art practice and projects. Veronica moved to San Diego in the summer of 2019 where she had two solo exhibitions (Sparks Gallery and Encinitas City Hall) as well as having work included in a group exhibition in Encinitas. She recently moved back to Chicago-land in the summer of 2022 with her husband and two young boys.
