About this artwork
My inspiration for this piece was the Harvest moon. So called by farmers as they harvest crops using moonlight. I created this artwork during the evening of such a moon. It tells of fading autumn light and autumnal colours. Oil pastel on pastel paper. Packaged with glassine sheets for protection.

About the artist
Tara is an emerging artist who rediscovered her passion for fine art after working full time as an educator for many years. She gained a BA Honours in Fine Art at Newcastle- Upon -Tyne University , UK. Tara draws and paints her responses to the cycles of life. Akin to a passage of writing, each artwork conveys differing feeling and captures a moment in time and space. Starting from a reference photograph, memory, or instinct she breaks the surface with marks to map out components of composition and light. The medium is used tangibly as she blends and scratches through hidden layers to create texture and space. Editing and problem solving becomes the main thrust of creative thinking towards the end of a piece. She works through this process until she finds a moment of completion and clarity of visual energy. Death of a loved one has catapulted her creativity and informed her practice. Tara’s artwork explores themes of how precious, beautiful and fragile life is. Tara comments, “The practice of art heals me and levels my mind.”
