About the artist
Marianne is an emerging and self-taught Korean-Canadian artist. Radiating warmth and light, her art is intended to evoke a sense of magic and nostalgia. Drawing inspiration from her connections to Ontario, her upbringing in Québec, and her world travels, Marianne weaves a tapestry of influences into her art. Her rich interplay of colours and marks emerge through her application of thin layers of acrylics and mixed media. She also often incorporates neon hues to explore the intersection between the natural and digital realms, blending the real with the surreal. Currently, Marianne's focus is on painting nature, with a particular emphasis on landscapes. Her work reflects themes of identity, belonging, and interconnectedness, highlighting the importance of community as a means for sustainability. Just as trees and flora thrive through mutual support and communication, Marianne's art underscores the symbiotic relationship between humans and the environment. This emphasis on ecological preservation is particularly poignant in the context of climate change and recent wildfires, reinforcing the urgent need to protect our natural world and the communities within it. Her artwork is collected globally, with acquisitions arranged by Studio Ninth and GZ Art Co. art advisory firms for Canadian corporate collections, and by Danna Heitner Advisory for a Canadian private collection. **Represented by Art Interiors gallery and online by Ninth Editions.
