About the artist
Erin Carle is a surrealist painter whose body of work is deeply informed by the female experience. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Erin was immersed in the world of dance from an early age, and later went on to become a member of the corps de ballet with a prestigious ballet company. It was during this time that she bore witness to the demanding and often oppressive standards that are all too prevalent in our modern society, and it is these observations that now serve as the primary inspiration for her paintings. In 2022, Erin earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Texas State University, cementing her position in the contemporary art world. Today, she calls Austin, Texas home, and her work continues to explore and expose the myriad challenges that women face in a world dominated by media and constant social interaction. With each new piece, Erin seeks to shine a light on these issues, encouraging her viewers to engage with them in a thoughtful and introspective manner.
