About this artwork
Oil painting on 160 gsm matte paper. In this painting, the feeling of trying to be perfect without ever succeeding is represented. The golden area symbolizes the darkest aspects of life that we try to disguise with a shiny appearance to make everything seem perfect. The white area represents the purity of life. The black strokes are the soul exploding, unable to control itself to maintain the illusion of perfection. In a moment of loss of control, this soul expresses itself freely, "ruining" the perfect picture we create for others to see. However, if we change our perspective, we can see the beauty in the chaos and the freedom represented by the random strokes, drawn just as they were felt in the moment, without the pressure of the concept of perfection. How wonderful it is in life to be able to let go and be whatever we want, however we want, without parameters that define perfection. The painting can come with a printed passe-partout featuring the poem I wrote for this piece, thereby deepening its interpretation. Deixar a alma gritar Se expressar na sua vontade Deixar a pintura estragar Permitir viver a sua verdade Sem a perfeição procurar E respeitando a sua liberdade Vendo o bonito se expressar Em cada traço mal dado.
