About this artwork
“el día después” (the day after) is a series of compositions made in basaltic and cantera stone, portraying different scenes of the same space: the rooftop terrace of Luis Barragán’s house and studio in Mexico City. as part of a larger project, “on monumentality”, the works reflect on the persistence of a spatial sensibility throughout the time and territory in modern day Mexico; as well as the relation between light and shadow, dwellings and skies in architecture. the name of the series is inspired by the work of Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-Soo.

About the artist
I explore the idea of national identity as a political manufacture, articulated by visual and poetical codes. Through deconstructing the canons behind art, geography and popular culture, I narrate a personal nation-fiction.
