Gala Knörr is a visual artist, graduate of Parsons Paris (2007) earned her MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins (2011). She has done residencies at Morpho (Antwerp), Tabakalera (San Sebastián), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), The Solomon R Guggenheim Museum (New York) and Fundación Bilbaoarte (Bilbao) among others. Knörr mainly uses painting to reflect on the power of images and their impact on our collective consciousness. Starting from the pictorial, she has also worked with video, performance and writing to explore issues related to popular culture and the construction of shared histories. Knörr has showcased her work in different institutions and art spaces such: Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao); DA2 (Salamanca); CentroCentro (Madrid); La Casa Encendida (Madrid); Le Port de Créateurs (Toulon); Centro Cultural Montehermoso (Vitoria-Gasteiz); SB34 (Brussels); Cité International des Arts (Paris); Museo Memoria de Andalucía Fundación CajaGranada (Granada); Fundación Bilbaoarte (Bilbao); La Térmica (Málaga); Fabra i Coats Fàbrica de Creació (Barcelona); Museo Carmen Thyssen (Málaga) etc. Recipient of the Generación 2020 award from Fundación Montemadrid and the VEGAP (Visual Entidad de Gestión de Artistas Plásticos) Grant, her projects have also been kindly supported by Basque Government Department of Culture and Language Policy, Etxepare Euskal Institutua, Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturunea and the Consorci de Museus GVA. Knörr lives between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Antwerp.
