About this artwork
A woman rises from — or dissolves into — the shoreline, her body inseparable from the tide that swirls around her. Fish move through air as easily as water. Two great eyes float in the sky like celestial guardians, watching without judgment as the boundary between worlds has quietly disappeared. The longer you sit with it, the more you feel watched — and somehow, held. It belongs on a wall where it can breathe, where guests will stop mid-conversation and find themselves unable to look away.

About the artist
Laurie Cavender is a Florida-based contemporary artist whose work blends abstraction, emotion, and storytelling through bold color, texture, and movement. Working primarily in acrylic, she creates expressive paintings inspired by coastal life, human connection, memory, and the tension between beauty and chaos. Her style moves between abstract expressionism and modern figurative work, often layering vibrant palettes with intuitive mark-making to create pieces that feel both energetic and reflective. Many of her paintings explore mood and atmosphere rather than realism, inviting viewers to form their own emotional connection to the work. Laurie’s paintings have been exhibited multiple times at Artel Gallery in Pensacola, Florida, where she continues to grow her presence as an emerging artist. She is actively building collections of original works for collectors who are drawn to contemporary art that feels personal, bold, and alive.
