About this artwork
This painting is part of my Lightscape series. Unlike much of my work where bright colors are layered over a darker ground, here I reversed the process, letting the luminous backdrop shine through. The piece captures the glow of a summer sunset, with vivid oranges, yellows, and pinks stretching across the sky and reflecting on the water. Two trees frame the scene, their textured foliage balancing the radiance of the horizon. It’s a study of contrast, shadow and light, stillness and vibrancy, and the fleeting beauty found at the close of day.
