About the artist
Jenna Faye Powell’s practice explores ideas of sanctuary and survival in the face of concurrent disasters, including environmental collapse. Despite this, she self-identifies as an unrelenting optimist. Her recent works envision what part ‘future us’ might play in the sci-fi story of our not-so distant future. Powell has a MFA degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University (2012), has exhibited nationally and internationally in various solo and group shows, as well as participated in notable residencies at Vermont Studio Centre, SÍM Residency Centre (Iceland), and Annandale Artist Residency. Powell was a finalist in the 2012 RBC Painting Competition. Selected exhibits include Brave New Worlds at Museum London and the Windsor-Essex Triennial at the Art Gallery of Windsor. She currently works for Partners in Art Canada.
