Akihiro Boujoh (b.Nagasaki) is a Japanese visual artist who works with sculpture, installation art, and photography. Akihiro lives and works in Utrecht, the Netherlands since after finishing his MFA Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art in 2016. Boujoh’s multi-dimensional work encompasses sculpture, installation and photography to explore the emerging chasm between nature, environment, and human activities in everyday life. We often seem to not recognize that nature, the environment and humankind are intricately intertwined. To discover this relationship, we may need to look both at the surface and at the very depth of our internal, individual interpretation. The aim of Boujoh’s practice is to question how perceive the organic world, both in, and through, human made structures. He uses the environment as a device to let the viewer’s perception fluctuate. His collections of works have been exhibited nationally and internationally. He has received a number of honours including Hopper Prize 2020, Aesthetica Art Prize 2022.
