About this artwork
Often, when walking in the city late at night, although many store fronts are closed the hot dog carts are still open, casting light into the darkness. Passing one near Roy Thompson Hall one night, I was drawn to the warm glow and bright colors of this lonely scene.

About the artist
I am a Toronto based painter and artist. I have had an impulse to create for as long as I can remember, always going back to painting as a place to be mindful and present. Through painting I am able to slow down and really notice the small details of the world, even seeing the beauty and potential in the mundane. In my life I frequently pause, to appreciate all the incredible things around us, and I hope through my art you will too. My paintings are often of places I have been to while traveling or simply going for a walk in the city. I often carry a camera or my painting sketchbook with me to document places or things that capture my interest and then use these references for larger paintings. My paintings live between expressive painting and an illustrative style, a push and pull between the need for order and expression.
