About this artwork
Estimated Value: $1,650-1,980 Full title: I feel the warmth of the space The weight of the blanket, over top of my thoughts. Protected by a feeling a warm glow ahead, far away at times. Moving towards it A safe space. The work is composed of stretched satin sewn together in various sections. The painting is created by staining the fabric with dyes and watercolour. A sun like semi-circle is hand embroidered, reflecting a glowing yellow in near middle of the canvas. Beside "the sun", there is a simple shape of house. On the right, a sheer 3D curtain drapes a small section of the right side. Many of the other shapes are loose and abstract, which opens up the interpretation of the piece.Throughout the work, the dyes interact, bleed and blend. The yellows are more concentrated in the middle of the pieces, where purples, pinks and simular tones take over like a healing bruise

About the artist
Paige Dawdy is a multidisciplinary artist. Her current practice has been exploring various materials with a focus in ink/watercolour and embroidery on Satin. Through gestures of the body and the bruise as a mark, she wants to represent the feeling of pain and healing, with the expression of emotional numbing. By staining and material, she creates a push and pull representing the presence, and the absence of the body. Paige grew up in London Ontario Canada and has been showing between London and Toronto for the past 8 years. Paige graduated from Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2020, with her Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in Drawing and Painting.
