About the artist
Othiana Roffiel is a Mexican artist whose practice focuses on painting. Her studio work, which explores diverse visual languages and generates tensions that play with representational logics. Roffiel has received numerous awards, including the 2020 Jóvenes Creadores del FONCA scholarship: a production fellowship granted by the Mexican Government. In addition, in 2020 she was selected to partake in the XIX Bienal de Pintura Rufino Tamayo, which was exhibited at several institutions across the country, including Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, and in the summer of 2022 finally traveled to Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City. In 2012, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, where she was given the recognition of summa cum laude as well as the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Painting.
