About this artwork
This piece was created whilst I was quite ‘lost in music’ singing and dancing as I painted the joy I felt from the musical vibrations. At some point a took a step back and my thought was, ‘oh it’s too much’ and right on cue the Luther Vandross sang the words, ‘Never Too Much’ which I scratched into the wet paint as a reminder to never dull myself down. I feel joy and abundance in this piece, freedom of expression and the liberation that comes from living full out and wearing your colourful self with pride. Hope you feel it too.

About the artist
Kate Mayer is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores energy in transformation. She paints in response to bespoke soundscapes, allowing vibration and rhythm to guide her gestures and carry her into a flow state where sound becomes colour and movement. Each work is a translation between art forms, embodying the principle that energy is never destroyed, only transformed. Mayer’s circular compositions serve as portals, inviting viewers into meditative spaces that balance stillness and vitality. Bold colours, radiant sprays, and layered textures are chosen for their ability to shift atmosphere, elevate mood, and spark a visceral response. Her paintings are active presences, catalysts for connection, renewal, and joy. Through this ongoing practice, Mayer investigates how sound, colour, and emotion intertwine. Her work is not only a visual experience but also an energetic offering, designed to uplift spaces and invite viewers into a better-feeling state.
