A Parade for Harriet, depicts a protest that is led by four women who are headed towards freedom. This speaks to the many paths throughout history black Americans had to take in order to receive any form of justice. Crafting creative strategies to counteract against systemic oppression. Referencing our history and using methods left behind by our ancestors. To invoke change that will affect future generations to come. Metaphorically speaking I decided to use Bagheera the panther from Rudyard Kipling’s the Jungle Book. Which Symbolizes the intelligent guardian who has special insight concerning man. Due to the tragic murder of George Floyd and dealing with Covid-19 I wanted to use my artistic voice to show how working together as a community impacts our daily lives in a positive way. I believe in finding constructive solutions that promote justice.
