Olivia Aguiar is an emerging artist born and raised in Tkaronto. She graduated in 2023 from OCAD University with a BFA in Drawing and Painting and a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. Although she experiments in multiple media, her practice primarily involves airbrush and oil painting. For her, painting is a practice of self-grounding, allowing her to feel more connected to the fabric of being. Collecting photos, mementos, and family archives, she formulated sketches from loose collages and then transposes those into paintings. Through this practice, she aims to contextualize her subjectivity within a tactile collective reality, exploring her positionality as a mind that weaves across technological, spiritual, and psychic landscapes.
