In the rhythmic dance between colours and canvas, I, as a Haitian-American self-taught abstract artist, embark on a creative journey that unfolds in distinct phases. My work is a testament to the fusion of my cultural duality and the intuitive language of abstract expressionism. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant tapestry of Haiti's rich cultural heritage, for the last 20 years, my paintings echo the spirit of resilience and transcendence embedded in my ancestral roots. As I navigate the realms of abstraction, each brushstroke becomes a bridge connecting the tangible and the ethereal, a visual ode to the profound spirituality that courses through my veins. My creative process unfolds in deliberate phases, a reflection of the cyclical nature of life and the interconnectedness of past, present, and future. This phased approach allows me to build layers of meaning, capturing the essence of a moment while leaving room for evolution and introspection. Dynamic colours pulsate across my canvases, creating a symphony of hues that evoke emotions and memories. The palette I choose is an homage to the vibrant landscapes of Haiti and the kaleidoscope of experiences that shape my identity. Through the interplay of light and shadow, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the visual cadence of my compositions. The composition of my work is a dance of chaos and order, mirroring the complexities of existence. The canvas becomes a sacred space where I explore the intersection of the tangible and the intangible, allowing ancestral spirits to guide my hand in the creation of visual narratives that transcend the boundaries of time and space. In essence, my art serves as a conduit for storytelling, a visual language that speaks to the soul. It is an exploration of self, culture, and spirituality—a testament to the enduring power of creativity to bridge worlds and illuminate the interconnected threads that bind us all. Through my abstract expressions, I invite you to join me on a journey of discovery, where colours, phases, and ancestral spirits converge to create a tapestry of meaning and connection.
