The idea from this came from a conversation I had with a friend about searching for and going after what it is that you want in life and how the journey there might not be the easiest and there may be unsuspected surprises and obstacles along the way but you must keep on swimming to get there as it will all be worth it in the end.

The black cat that appears in a lot of my artworks is actually my boyfriends’ cat Maya and my birthday twin (13th of May), who I’m sadly really allergic to. So to make up for the fact I can’t cuddle her I keep painting her instead!
