This painting is inspired by fragments of objects, forms, details and spaces gathered from everyday observations whilst walking around the city. A window ledge, the shape of the floating clouds above me, a scrap of paper blowing in the wind, overlapping roof tiles. The work reimagines and transforms these fragments into a dreamlike abstract composition of elements floating in an otherworldly landscape. I use collage and Dadaist inspired methods to evolve the composition and place trust in an unknown outcome that is driven by imagination and ambiguity. Exhibited as part of my solo show, ‘Out of the Blue’ at Apthorp Gallery, artsdepot London in March 2024. Acrylic, oil and colour pencil on canvas
