About this artwork
Auction lot #012 Estimated value USD 400 "from dad - outside" is an ongoing series of watercolour pieces done on painter's drop cloth and stretched over a canvas. The wood pattern and tile size are both a commonality found within interior spaces. My work is a slow, meditative, dissection of my identity as a second generation immigrant growing up in the suburbs. My exposure to interior spaces stems from renovating homes with my dad, and research on the hegemony of suburbia.

About the artist
Adora Lau is a second-generation Chinese immigrant based in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Canada. Her work is a meditative exploration of her personal relationship with loss, and the limited ties that connect with her homeland of Hong Kong. Her practice uses a range of acrylic, watercolour, and charcoal medium, often through labour intensive processes. The artworks she creates are forms of letting go, to evoke senses of finality, nostalgia, and tranquility that follows acceptance.
