Mixed media on paper, framed. This mixed media study was created as the Chanel Spring 24 runway show was being streamed live to my laptop. I tried to capture this look, the colour & texture of the dress and background, the movement of the model and the essence of the show in a fleeting few minutes. Later adding some from my memory of the look just past. I used various media including water ink, pencil and acrylic paint applied with a palette knife. The piece is created on natural recycled art paper and framed in black wood, glazed and with a white mount.

Rebecca Hillery-Tong is a London based figurative artist and ex Fashion Designer. She was trained in Fine Art and Fashion Design (BA) at Kingston University in London, UK. After a career spanning 30 years as a professional fashion designer, in 2019 Rebecca reignited her art practice by regular life drawing sessions. During lockdown in 2020 she began to create fashion inspired art and present images online. Her work is underpinned by inside knowledge of fashion design and encompasses modern portraiture. She takes inspiration from the worlds of fashion and contemporary art, with a bold, expressive style & experimental use of colour. She works using mixed media, sometimes blending hand drawn images with digital finishes. In 2023 Rebecca was invited by FIDA to sketch live at London Fashion Week, capturing backstage moments and the live catwalk, speed sketching in real time. She has had 2 group exhibitions in London UK in 2023 (The Winning Gallery) and one in 2024 (Robert Phillips Gallery) and exhibits a rotating collection of artworks: 'Fashion Faces' at DiSH cafe/gallery in London, UK. Rebecca currently works solely as an artist on commissions and personal work. She was a member of FIDA since 2021.
