Seth Cameron’s contemplative paintings are orderly, symmetrical compositions of complementary colors that are sometimes barely distinguishable from one another. These color study paintings in beautifully crafted artist made frames call to mind Ad Reinhardt and Josef Albers while others represent space as they explore the fundamentals of painting such as figure and ground, interactions of color, shape and line, etc. Seth Cameron (b. 1982 in South Carolina) is a painter and writer working in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 2004. Cameron is best known as a co-founder of The Bruce High Quality Foundation. Since 2009 he has served as the President of BHQFU, the collective’s experimental post-graduate school, where he teaches courses in creative writing and art history. Cameron is also an adjunct professor at The Cooper Union where he leads The Intradisciplinary Seminar. The artist’s paintings have been exhibited at McClain Gallery in Houston, Nathalie Karg Gallery and Susan Inglett Gallery in New York and Nina Johnson Gallery in Miami.
