About this artwork
Toronto's Chinatown is a beautiful place filled with various artistic elements. Its seemingly chaotic appearance is one of its unique characteristics. I adore the serene atmosphere amidst the hustle and bustle, often captivated by the unexpected charm hidden within. As the Lunar New Year approaches, I want to extend. About the artist
Hello everyone, I'm Henry Hao, a painter and watercolor illustrator hailing from Toronto. With a background as a former fashion designer, I graduated from the Donghua University College of Fashion and Art Design and furthered my studies at the Copenhagen SAGA International Design Center. Through my illustrations, I present a unique interpretation and understanding of the world. Each piece is a crafted atmosphere, inviting viewers to engage and deepen their resonance. I have a passion for art creation, drawing inspiration from the distinctive atmosphere and culture of Toronto. In recent years, my focus has been on creating works based on the urban humanity and charm of Toronto, with the "Toronto Scenes Series" being one of my key masterpieces. Characterized by lines and colors, my works strive to intricately depict details while conveying an overall sense and rhythm. I believe lines play a crucial role in enhancing the expressiveness of an image, and colors are a vital aspect of my creative process, allowing me to better portray the emotions and atmosphere of a scene. Themes in my works revolve around everyday life moments, aiming to reveal the inner emotions and reflections of characters through subtle movements or expressions, thus creating a unique atmosphere and story. I hope my pieces resonate with the audience, evoking emotional connections and inspirations. I am honored to have received the "Toronto Mayor's Purchase Award" at the 62nd Toronto Outdoor Art Fair in 2023 for my piece titled "Enjoy Weekend," which is now permanently housed in the collection of the Toronto municipal government. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my sharing of artistic creation and experiences. I'm deeply grateful for the appreciation and collection of my works by many art enthusiasts
