About the artist
As an artist, I explore the complex and often intergenerational nature of trauma. Through my work, I seek to shed light on the deep wounds that can be passed on to us by others, and the fear, strength, and hypervigilance that is created in the mind and body from these experiences. Taking inspiration from interior decor, trompe l’oeil, horror films, color theory, and romantic culture, I primarily create bright, highly detailed, wood cutout acrylic paintings. These pieces are often characterized by bold colors, patterns, and warped perspectives, which reflect the intense emotions and distorted perception that can result from trauma and hypervigilance. Through this work I aim to create a place of understanding, healing, and empowerment. When we look directly at pain and fear those feelings become more manageable, which leads to healing.
