Luke Edgar’s work is an accumulation of his life experiences and observations translated into an expression of a new reality. Working with large scale steel and using traditional oil painting techniques in combination with tattooing into the paint and metal, enables him to portray these observations in a bold, unique way. Through his work he has explored themes such as the interconnection of humanity and the impact of technology on social behaviour. He also explores how far the boundaries of portraiture can be pushed while remaining recognisable. Through the narrative of his paintings, he questions the perceptions we have of ourselves and the world around us, leaving a lot to the viewer’s personal interpretation.
