Night Bloom 2 is an oil painting on deep edge canvas - it is ready to hang with or without framing . The painting is constructed with thin veils of poured oil paint over an acrylic ground . I worked in an experimental way to achieve the forms and textures . My process is part planned and partly improvisational. For example in this instance I knew I wanted a dusky blue pigment over a light rose ground , and the pouring / staining process led to an interesting granulation effect of the oil paint which suggested the central segment of a flower. Through my process I hope to trigger unconscious associations in the viewer .
