Rafal Zawistowski is an acclaimed contemporary artist known for his innovative approach to contemporary art, painting, printmaking, and drawing. Born in Warsaw, Poland, and raised in Canada, Zawistowski graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU) in Toronto in 2006. During his studies, he spent a transformative year in Florence, Italy, where he immersed himself in the study of Renaissance art—a lasting influence that continues to shape the depth, structure, and luminosity of his work today. ​After completing his studies, Zawistowski’s distinctive style quickly gained international recognition. In 2011, he exhibited at New Contemporaries, where renowned collector Charles Saatchi acquired several of his paintings. The following year, his first solo exhibition saw Saatchi purchase the entire collection before the private view, cementing Zawistowski’s reputation as a leading voice in contemporary painting today. In 2024, Zawistowski showcased his creative versatility as a wild card entrant on Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year, further expanding his audience and influence. Today, his work spans painting, printmaking, and drawing, blending classical technique with a bold, modern sensibility. Rafal Zawistowski continues to exhibit internationally through both solo and group exhibitions, with a growing base of collectors and galleries worldwide. His contemporary artworks—celebrated for their texture, intensity, and narrative depth—embody the evolving landscape of modern and contemporary art in the 21st century.
