An Arizona native, I like to say I had dual residency between California and Arizona. As I was born in Arizona, moved to California when I was 7 but flew back and forth every summer, holidays as my dad and his family still remain in Arizona. I even moved back to Arizona briefly having my first child here, and moving back to California having my second child there. I was that friend in school that usually had a camera in hand. Even as a kid I understood the importance of preserving moments in time. Back in the day before digital, I would have disposable to take with me on field trips or a point and shoot that I took with me to my trip to Boston and to San Francisco for New Years Eve. I even saved up for my first SLR but broke it in Yosemite. I was heartbroken, I hadn’t even used it yet. My husband got me my first DSLR. A whole whopping 2 megapixels, but I used that to document my pregnancy and then upgraded from there as the digital cameras improved and continued to document my kids and family life. It wasn’t until I won a city wide photo contest, then created ‘ A Day in the LIfe’ photoshoot/slideshow for my son’s school that I was invited to be a second shooter for a professional wedding photographer and my photography career took off. I have been doing photography for many years and during a time of creative blocks. In an attempt to break through that block, I bought some canvas and paints (even though I don’t know how to draw) and just started painting. I was surprised that what I drew looked like something lol. Flowers on cactus. It was then I was hooked. I’ve continued my journey with both photography and art. Becoming a real estate photographer and taking on other projects such as band photos. My art continues to be a part of my life, being found at art walks and sold on FaceBook.
