Yasra Ghubar is a 17-year-old Grade 12 student living in Canada who has grown through many school experiences as an ESL learner and has built a strong reputation for always trying her best, asking questions when she doesn’t understand, and pushing herself to improve, especially in subjects like English, Social Studies, Indigenous Studies, and Mathematics, while also completing big projects such as her Indigenous Cultural Awareness guide, her NBE3C Learning Journal, her E-Portfolio final summative, her CCF assignment, her Chinatown migration project, her Holocaust essay and map, her Restaurant ESLE project, her Whole Foods potluck slideshow, and countless math and quadratic worksheets, all while learning how to stay organized with clear steps, summaries, and concise explanations that help her understand new concepts more easily; she dreams of becoming a pilot one day and is exploring programs like Fanshawe College’s Aviation Leadership course, inspired partly by her mom’s suggestion to study mechanics for two years, work for a while, and then take six years of aviation training, and even though this path is long, she stays determined because she truly believes in building a future that she is proud of; she relaxes by listening to music, cooking healthy whole foods three times a week during school breaks, and expressing her creativity through drawing, which is her favourite hobby, and she even wants to start selling her paintings online, showing her confidence and ambition to grow as an artist; she also enjoys tech and wants to eventually learn programming so she can create online platforms, while at the same time maintaining a normal teenage life with friendships, school routines, and a Chinese boyfriend who goes to the same school as her; she likes her work to be neat and organized with headings, pictures, diagrams, bibliographies in APA format, and strong key points, because these details make her assignments look professional and help her communicate her ideas clearly; she once named her cruise ship project “Utopia of the Seas,” created a chess.com club, and continually shows her creativity in school and personal projects; she understands things best when explanations are simple, visual, and step-by-step, and she isn’t afraid to ask again when something doesn’t make sense, which is one of the reasons she learns so fast; she stays respectful, often says good night after finishing her homework, and treats her education seriously even when tasks feel overwhelming; she has grown more confident with time, learning to balance school, personal life, and long-term planning while building a future that combines creativity, ambition, hard work, and the belief that she can achieve her goals if she keeps moving forward every day.
