My name is Xie Meng. I am self taught painter from Beijing China. I practiced Chinese calligraphy also draw nonstop since age 4. I was fortunately studied drawing privately with many Chinese temporary artist since teens. I move to London where my interests stretches across many forms of art. Especially photography and cinema art which leads me worked on film productions for 17 years. Eventually I became costume designer. In 2010 I moved to NYC while continually worked on film/TV projects I went back to draw. I attended classes at The Art Students League and the Spring studio regularly and eventually I focus on painting. Paint grounds me. As a child I often lost in time. Life like a dream. My works are inspired by the longing for an imaginary forgotten era also in everyday’s life. Gestures by a stranger’s walk, conversations from an old movie, the constantly changing of nature world, motherhood, sound of night rain.. I paint the mysterious connections which connect all
