I am Anika Shamanka, a self-taught contemporary artist based in France. My practice explores transformation, psychological rupture, shadow, power and the darker territories of the human psyche. Working primarily in graphite, crimson pencil and pastel on paper, I create figurative works that move between realism, surrealism and dark fantasy. I am drawn to moments of metamorphosis — when an old identity breaks apart and something more powerful emerges from within. My imagery often incorporates archetypal and symbolic elements, not as illustrations of a belief system, but as a visual language for exploring the unconscious, autonomy, repression, desire and transformation. I began developing my professional art practice independently, without formal art-school training. Each work is created as an individual visual narrative — a frozen scene from an inner world, intended to confront, provoke and remain with the viewer.
