Inspiration The Canadian Shield is home to many different species of plants. The variety of plants makes the Canadian Shield rich in vegetation. The plants differ from the Southern to Northern areas of the Shield. For example; in the northern areas you will see Coniferous trees, as you go south you will find more and more broadleaf trees. Even after seeing all these plants, there are still many plants that inhabit the Canadian Shield. There is a plant similar to Grass called Sedge. A moss found in the region is Feather moss. In addition, there is Sphagnum moss. Some spectacular flowers are; Fireweed, Twinflower, Rosemary, Wild Chives, Kalmia Heath, and Saxifrage. This painting depicts a rock outcropping covered in colourful twinflowers (the purple plants) and sphagnum moss (the green swaths of colour).
