Hazel Miller's paintings explore ways to visualize how life on earth has evolved. Her interests include ancient human history and humanity’s artistic development over millennia, as well as the geological record, mass extinctions, and the adaptation of living things. Themes of her work revolve around spirituality, impermanence, and the vastness of time. Miller is drawn to lush atmospheres and vibrant lifeforms, signs of biodiversity. Underlying her romantic ideas about nature and beauty is grief over species lost and fear about extinctions to come.
