Art is important to me because...

It’s an outward expression of inward thoughts and experiences.

To me, art is...

A looking glass into the time and place that the artist delivers to us. It may be self expression of the artist, or capturing a moment in time. Something the artist wants to share and it is up to us to figure out how we want to receive it. We may see a landscape or portrait, but hopefully the are that touches us the most says something more in depth than what is captured on that canvas, or paper, or in bronze or plaster.

Art is powerful because...

It is one of the few ways we can receive honesty and accept it even when it hurts. They say that a picture is worth a 1,000 words, but what if that picture was made up of a 1,000 brushstrokes that each had intention and inspiration as to their character and placement. Art is someone’ passion, and soul, and truth. We get to experience that in another person through their art. THAT is powerful.
