Nemo is a self-taught abstract neo-expressionist painter whose work captures the raw energy of emotion and chaos. His journey has been anything but linear. Born in Hamburg and raised across northern Germany, Nemo spent his youth searching for meaning, experimenting with countless creative paths. At 18, he moved to Berlin, immersing himself in the city’s music scene, where he found a pulse that resonated deeply with his own restless spirit. He dabbled in fashion, launching his own brand, and worked as a creative director, weaving visual narratives for others. As an intern at Paul van Dyk's label, he got a taste of the music industry’s inner workings—yet none of these ventures satisfied the hunger inside him. Then, after years of drifting, Nemo found his true voice in painting. Six years ago, the canvas became his sanctuary, a place where he could pour out the complexities of his inner world. His bold, chaotic strokes and distorted figures mirror the emotional turbulence that has shaped his life. There is a deep current of pain and searching in his work, as if every painting is an attempt to unravel the mysteries of existence. For three years, Nemo worked alongside the renowned artist Isa Genzken, absorbing invaluable lessons about the art world. But it wasn’t until he began creating on his own that he truly discovered the depth of his talent. Rooted in the spirit of Berlin’s underground, Nemo’s work is not only visual but deeply tied to sound and rhythm. He has written songs and poetry since 2010, blending words and music to express the feelings that brushstrokes cannot capture. Currently, he’s working on his first art-poetry book, a project that merges all of his creative worlds into one. Nemo’s art is a reflection of a life lived on the edge of chaos, always searching, never settling. Each piece is a scream from the soul — a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful things come from the deepest pain.
