Anja Salonen’s work employs traditional oil painting techniques like glazing alongside airbrushed acrylic and fabric dye to build up many-layered images, often mirrored in the pictorial interweaving of multiple subjects. Complex scenes of eco-horror and sensual ecstasy emerge through a world building process resembling collage, merging art historical and computer generated imagery while referencing the visual language of surveillance and biotechnology.
