Tahuanty’s artistic practice consists of creating images that function as reminders of the teachings left behind by traumatic events, generated by the simple fact of existing or by falling into existence. He seeks to create compositions in which archetypes, symbols, signs, and ideas serve as a mirror and amplify our daily practices, producing contemporary mythologies. He wants to activate the healing power in the image, allowing us to remember the ancestral technologies of the body; he is interested in creating images that serve as reminders of the learning and the wounds that arise in ritual moments: from mystical experiences to parties or carnivals. His practice surges in the disobedience to the patriarchal system and invites us to review colonial ideas and concepts such as nature, human beings, animals, novelty, success, progress, aesthetics, culture, and technology. He values ancestral Amerindian thought, but he avoids exoticism and paternalism.
