born in Tehran, 1983 live and work in London I explore ‘space’ and ‘change’ in their abstract and hybrid forms. My process engages with the morphology of memory, context, emotions, and societal constructs, using both digital and analog mediums and tools. It aims to evoke contradiction by presenting conflicting or seemingly incompatible situations, challenge conventional notions of order, and explore the malleability of our physical and conceptual surroundings. My recent paintings and drawings explore the interplay of power dynamics and vulnerabilities that stem from miscommunication leading to exertion, control or negotiation where I examine tensions between the paint and its respective medium while negotiating boundaries between objects within the spatial confines of the painting. I also delve into the tension between the reference photographs that I utilise and the agency of the painting itself. Moving within a buffer zone between embracement and rejection of the external imagery and its influence and interaction with the inherent autonomy of the painting.
