Gala Knörr is a visual artist, writer, and researcher from Vitoria-Gasteiz. She primarily uses painting to reflect on the power of images and their impact on our collective consciousness. While starting from the pictorial, she has also engaged with video, performance, and writing to explore themes related to popular culture and the construction of shared histories. A PhD candidate at EHU/UPV, she is also a graduate of Parsons Paris (BFA Fine Arts) and Central Saint Martins (MA Fine Art), enhancing her education through workshops and classes led by notable figures such as Txomin Badiola, Richard Linklater, and Pedro G. Romero. Her works have been exhibited both individually and in group shows at galleries and institutions including Pablo’s Birthday (New York, 2024), Azkuna Zentroa (Bilbao, 2024), T20 (Murcia, 2023), DA2 (Salamanca, 2023), Guggenheim (Bilbao, 2022), Le Port de Créateurs (Toulon, 2022), Centro Cultural Montehermoso (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2021), CentroCentro (Madrid, 2021), La Casa Encendida (Madrid, 2020), and SB34 (Brussels, 2019), among others. She has participated in residencies at Morpho (Antwerp), C3A (Córdoba), The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), and the Centre for Postcolonial Studies at Goldsmiths University (London), among others. Knörr has given lectures and directed workshops at the Faculty of Arts at UGR (Granada), EHU/UPV (Vitoria-Gasteiz), Universidad de Murcia (Murcia), CENDEAC (Murcia), Can Felipa (Barcelona), Zas Espazioa (Vitoria-Gasteiz), and Saatchi Gallery (London).
